It's almost Independence Day....so here's my 4th of July door hanging. I put it up this morning and will leave it on the door for about a week. We've had her for a long time and I think she may be getting a little ratty, but I can't find a 4th of July door hanging that I like better.....so there she hangs! We can't believe it's already the end of June....I guess our weeks in Italy made the month go fast. Time to swim....we love summer!

It was a beautiful night for a walk....we had dinner and then took off out the front door. There were a lot of people out tonight since it is so nice. We did our usual route down to the river to see if we could see into the stadium (no such luck)...and watch the ducks swim over to Newport for the evening. I took this picture of the Mike Fink because it looks so sad on such a happy evening. It's been closed for a few years now, but has not been moved and is just rusting and fading as it sits on the river without business....too bad!

We're back in our routine...so after dinner this evening we went for a walk down by the river...kind of exciting at the stadium...lots of cheering and even some fireworks...but look at what we saw right in front of us! We got as close as possible to take the picture, but it ran off when we got closer. So what is it? We're not that good with rodents, but it's not a beaver, or opposum, or rat, or raccoon! We think maybe its a ground hog...but we're willing to take second opinions! I can tell you that it was hunting bugs in the grass.

We've been posting on the Italy 2010 blog until today....we're back now and will continue the rest of the year on this blog. This is Lucy playing with the palm fronds from Palm Sunday. We have them in a basket on the dresser by the computer and she has been staying very close to us today. While I was checking e-mails this morning, she jumped up on the dresser and starting playing with the palms...I thought it made a really cool picture.
